Part One - Hero Design
It is time to create your own superhero! I give you free rein in this part since the only limit is your imagination. However, following information must be included:
- Real name
- Codename
- Gender
- Team, if any
- Area you protect (can be as small or as big
as you want)
- Superpowers
- Costume design
- Backstory or origin story / How you got
your superpowers
- Other special abilities
- Other possible distinguishing details about your hero
You need to write 300 words in this part.
This gets lowered to 250 words if you draw or graphic your costume.
Part Two - Scenarios
Pick four (4) of the following eight scenarios
and write a short story about how your superhero would react in that particular
situation. For each scenario, you need to write 100 words or more.
- You are sitting on the bus on the way home when you overhear two men sitting on the seats in front of you plotting what sounds like a bank robbery. They are talking in whispers and you do not hear everything they say, but it sounds like they will be executing their plan tonight in your city.
- You put on the mask to make your city a better place. Let the other teams deal with saving the world, your job is keeping the streets safe. However, an alien invasion is occurring and the big team cannot be everywhere at once. Now you have got to save your city from space ships and giant robots. Can you help your city hold out long enough for the big heroes to save the day?
- After years of neglect someone (a rich
business man/a major corporation/a mysterious investment group) is investing
big bucks to turn the city around. At first it seemed like a good thing but now,
local residents are getting forced out of their homes to make room for trendy
developments. Criminals are getting forced out as well as some new force begins
a brutal takeover of the criminal underworld resulting in a more orderly city.
Is there a sinister motive behind all this?
- Your hero has a prominent secret identity
where they also do good, like a philanthropist, crime reporter, crusading lawyer
and so on. Someone wants them dead for that. Can they stop the assassins
without revealing their secret?
- The city has constructed a new super-prison
to deal with the explosion of super-crime. In order to test the facility, they
have asked several local heroes (yours included) to serve as 'test inmates' to
see how difficult it is to escape, as well as how hard it is to break in. But a
local politician who hates superheroes does not want the heroes to succeed and
would rather trap them instead.
- Due to various less-than-perfect cover
stories, someone close to one of the heroes has figured out their secret
identity. And it is someone young and kind of irresponsible who would not go to
the police...but might decide this hero job looks like fun.
- During your normal superhero duties, you
have managed to catch a criminal. While you are waiting for police to take them
away, they tell you a compelling story about committing crime to support their
family. Do you let them go?
- An outspoken political
candidate is campaigning in your area. He is
specifically anti-vigilante and is mostly anti-metahuman. So on top of the
normal protesters, you have "civilian metahumans" (people with powers
that do not wear costumes and fight or commit crimes), occult subspecies
(weres, vampires, gargoyles) and imported supporters of the politicians from other states. The police
are stretched thin deal with all of this. However, this is also the man who
wants to repeal the laws that allow you to be a superhero. Do you help, do you
help in secret, or do you not interfere at all?
