There are more than 30 points worth of options below. You can pick which ones you would like to complete. You will not be awarded more than 30 points for your work, even if you complete all parts of the assignment.

Slitherlink (10 points)

Solve the puzzle below to protect your loved one from a villain. Again.

slitherlink puzzle
slitherlink puzzle

Slitherlink is a loop-forming puzzle. Unlike other logic puzzles, Slitherlink is solved by drawing lines around the clues according to the rules until a closed loop is formed.

  • The value of each clue equals the number of links surrounding it.
  • Empty squares may be surrounded by any number of links.
  • When completed, the solution forms a single continuous loop with no crossings or branches.

Short Answer (10 points)

Please answer in full sentences and in your own words. Do not just copy and paste from the lesson.

  • With what choice does Green Goblin present Spiderman?
  • What two forces often fight within superheroes?
  • Who is considered a true paragon of justice?
  • What moral question arises with Batman?
  • Why did Oliver Queen decide not to kill anymore?

Which Side Were They On? (10 points)

In the third lesson, we talked about the Civil War and how it created a schism in the superhero community. Research two characters (not Iron Man, Captain America or Spiderman) and tell me whether they were Team Iron Man or Team Captain America and why. 50 words for each character. Please cite any sources you use.

Creativity All Around (10 points)

You are a minority superhero. In any written form (story, poem, diary entry, etc.), tell of your superhero adventures. Include any form of prejudice you might face while performing your duties. Do so in 100 words or more. In the case of a poem, the writing must be 15 lines or longer.

Art (10 points)

Through the use of any medium, illustrate something that was mentioned in the lesson. It does not have to be particularly good (I know I am not a very talented artist), but you need to put an effort into your submission.

Free For All (10 points)

This option gives you free rein over what you will cover. You can write a story, research something else, draw or graphic something, anything your heart desires that has to do with subjects that we covered in the lessons. Be creative!

Bonus (5 points)

This part is not mandatory to get the quill, but I will still appreciate your comments. In at least 50 words, write any comments, critiques or thoughts about your participation in the class. What were your expectations, did you like the assignments and so forth.

You can get 5 points as a bonus (to the 30 from the exam), so you can get the coveted 300 points from the class. If you decide to do this option, know that I can only award up to 300 points. For example, if you have 297 points, I can only award 3, not all 5.
